February fun amidst the winter work at Gideon

Posted on

“Why, what’s the matter,

That you have such a February face,

So full of frost, of storm and cloudiness?”

(William Shakespeare, Much Ado About Nothing)

When the only breaks students have to look forward to during the month of February are snow delays or cancellations, Gideon Study Center offers a few academic diversions this year:

  • the annual Shakespeare Scene and Monologue Contest, sponsored by the Pittsburgh Public Theater, where 17 students (represented in 4 scenes and 1 monologue) will present their scenes and monologues in a preliminary round of competition, hoping to advance to the finals on Monday, February 14;
  • and Gideon’s own Medieval Feast for students and families to indulge in the sights, sounds, and tastes of the time period we’re studying this year.

We’ll share photos of both as soon as they are available!
